Stan Meade, who was Sergeant for the launch at the time, Rretired and went to live on a boat in Colwick Marina and regularly cruised the Trent.
Peter 'Blair' Moore served with the force from 1970 - 1978 as a cadet and PC.
" I actually worked on the launch as a cadet for a week when cadets either worked the launch or walked the embankment. I worked with Bob and Maurice who nicknamed me 'Pussyfoot' as I wore trainers all week! On leaving the force I went to work for British Waterways on their patrol unit along with other ex Police including Roy Broughton, Derek Nicholls, Jim Margerrison, Derek Smith, Steve Cropper and Bob Edwards. I actullay replaced Bob Collington. We worked very closely with the Police Marine Unit and when I changed roles later
to manage the maintenance of the River Trent I actually paid for some equipment for the boat, it is amazing how things go in circles. I am still with British waterways but have transferred to West MIdlands but was saddened to hear the Marine Unit had been disbanded, a poor decision in my view."
