The Newark Borough Police

Although Nottinghamshire Police is one Force covering the entire county it should be noted that sperate town-based forces in Nottingham, Newark and Retford had existed since 1836.
Newark Borough Police existed in its own right until 1947 when it was almagamated with the Nottinghamshire Constabulary, just over twenty years before the further amalgamation with the City Police.
