City Traffic Department 1968
This is the official photo of the Nottingham City Police Traffic Department taken March 1968 at the then City Police Training Ground, Mansfield Road, Carrington, Nottingham. The City Police had a Mechanised Division and a Traffic Department. Traffic dealt with all Fatal and Serious RTA's and mounted motor cycle patrols supplemented with a car patrol, for traffic enforcement and road safety purposes.
The Traffic Dept was a self contained unit, having its own photographers, plan drawers and its own vehicle examiners.The department disappeared upon amalgamation being absorbed into one all embracing Traffic Division.
