1940: This was one of the last photographs of the Nottingham City Police Fire Brigade which was Nationalised shortly afterwards for the duration of the war and then handed over to the local authority. The firemen are still wearing the City Cap Badges. At the time of the photograph the Police controlled the Ambulance Service and the Fire Brigade. The Firemen carried warrant cards like Police Officers and some days would man Ambulances and the next Fire Engines. Pictured here are (left to right): Back row - H Hopewell, L Keely, B Lockwood, T Button, S Mycroft. Middle row - R Hawley, N Moss, G Hodson, J Harrison, J Garside.
