Remembrance Sunday was always one of the few occasions when officers wore their service medals and Gary Arkless is showing his Navy Service medal - he was a submariner prior to joining the police service.

Note how "slab square"

looked at that time with the City Council putting up Christmas lights outside Debenhams. City hackney carriages were everyday black and white cars prior to the later regulation London-taxi style of vehicles that we see today. In this photo a Ford Sierra estate waits in line for its next fare.
