School Visit to TD(N) Photo: Geoff Hallam A school Visit to Nottingham Traffic Wing on 4th October1982. The Police School Liaison Officer, Pc John Hardy is standing with Inspector Geoff Hallam. John was a schools liaison officer based at Hucknall and is remembered here by Chris Akers, "John supervised school visits for North Division before the County got mucked about with different divisions. I met up with him on many occasions on school visits . Generally you went along to a school who would be studying the Police or crime etc and the visit of a Police Motorcyclist would be the icing on the cake for their studies. Answering questions about what you did was commonplace such as “ How many spokes are there in your front wheel Mr?” or “Have you ever been killed?” This was asked to much merriment of those assembled. Some might say I was brain dead by being on Traffic anyway! If I may be allowed to mention one school visit where there were a number of deaf children. I was given a sonic microphone so that the deaf children could hear me talking. They (microphones) were very sensitive and I managed to drop some equipment. B****CKS!!! I exclaimed under my breath followed by several deaf children shouting “Did you hear what the policeman said????” I am certain that the motorcycle in the picture was mine judging by the shine of paintwork and chrome. The number was TRA 57X. |
