Arnold Sub Division Headquarters, Sherwood Lodge

Prior to the building of Oxclose Lane Police Station the Headquarters of Arnold Division was at Force Headquarters in what is now used as the Communications Block. The re-organisation of the force in the early 1980s created a new division, Arnold Division, with no divisional police station! Arnold Police Station on Front Street(now demolished and the site now of Ilkeston Co-op Travel) was much too small as was Bestwood Park Station (also now closed) and Calverton Contact Point. The only solution to this problem was for part of Force Headquarters to be used as the new sub-divisional HQ.
