Two photos taken in 1979 soon after the opening of the Force Control Room at the new Force Headquarters at Sherwood Lodge. Designed to take over from the Ops Room at Epperstone Manor, the Control Room was considered very hi-teck in its day. One marvel was the potted plants, specially selected for their ability to thrive in artifical light in the windowless environment. Note the coloured light panels in the centre of the wall which indicated incoming phone calls. The top, red light indicated a 999 call and was visible to everyone in the room to pick up the call. The control room inspector for the day behind the console on the right is John Mason.
Similar scene to above. Left to right at the supervisor's desk is Sgt Bob Granshaw, Insp Tony Teather, and Civilian Operator Alan Bagguley.
